A TRIBUTE TO PERFORMING ARTISTS!

Late Pt. Arjun Mishra and Anuj Mishra

Guru Pornima for me most biggest festival as we all know at our country, Guru is one of the most honorable person of our lives even he have more bigger place than our father, mother or even god. But I am very fortune that my Guru in none other than my father Late Pt. Arjun Mishra ji which creates more devotion and dedication inside me for him and my art. Also it's not easy when your father is your Guru as first you have to prove him if you are worthy disciple and have to do more hard work and secondly you have to prove the world that you are worthy to take his name more forward for which I am working very hard every single day. He is not with me in body form but he is inside me in every breadth I take as my Guru as my father. I always try my best to be a very good dancer, Choreographer and most importantly a Guru like him so, I can pass our rich cultural heritage and our beautiful dance form to our upcoming generation as he did. I think our Indian Classical Dance and music is one of the rare tradition left where we celebrate this festival prominently and it's very important to continue and pass it to our upcoming generations....!

Pt. Hariprasad Chaurasia and Sunil Avchat

गुरु पं. हरिप्रसाद चौरासिया यांच्या शिष्यत्वामुळे माझ्या आयुष्याला खऱ्या अर्थाने कलाटणी मिळाली. त्यांच्या सान्निध्यात केवळ संगीत शिक्षण नव्हे तर आयुष्याकडे पाहण्याचा दृष्टीकोन रुंदावला. त्यांच्या सोबत बासरीसंगत करण्याची संधि मला गेल्या २० वर्षांपासून मिळत आहे. जगभर अनेक देशात प्रवास केला. यामुळे कलाक्षेत्रातील सांगीतिक व व्यावसायिक बाबी अनुभवता आल्या. प्रत्येक वेळेस त्यांच्याकडून शिकताना अभिजात पण तरीही काहीतरी नवीन असे नक्की शिकायला मिळतेच. मैहर घराण्याच्या सक्षम तालमीत शिकून त्यांनी आपल्या प्रतिभेने बासरी वादनास नवीन उंची प्राप्त करून दिली. त्यांच्याकडे शिकताना भारतीय संगीतातील अथांग, शिस्तबद्ध व सौंदर्ययुक्त कलागुणांचा प्रत्यय येतो. सध्याच्या माहितीजंजाळात हरवलेल्या तरुण पिढीस गुरुजींनी जोपासलेले चिरकाल टिकाऊ असे दर्जेदार भारतीय संगीत उपलब्ध आहे, ते युवा पिढीने आवर्जून शिकावे व ही अभिजात कला पुढे न्यावी ही प्रार्थना!

Smt. Shama Bhate and Shital Kolvalkar

गुरु श्रीमती. शमा भाटे म्हणजे उर्जेचा स्रोत. कथक हेच त्यांचे जीवन. कथकच्या विश्वात सतत कार्यरत राहून कथकचे सौंदर्य, व्याप्ती त्यांनी समाजासमोर मांडला. लय, ताल, अभिनय या अत्यंत महत्वाच्या घटकांबरोबरच रियाजाचे महत्त्व आम्हा शिष्यांना पटवून दिले. 

शमा ताईंमुळे मला माझ्या जीवनाचा मार्ग सापडला, अर्थातच 'कथक' च्या रुपात!

Dr. Sucheta Chapekar and Mrs. Smita Mahajan

Sucheta tai is a Guru in the true sense. She accepts a Shishya with all her goods and bads. Observes, accepts and pinpoints all the qualities in her Shishya and enhances them. Leads her to the right path with realistic and optimistic approach. She gets involved in her student as a person and always becomes an inspirational force.

I remember the time when she appreciated my Abhinaya of Padam and said- it touched her so much that she had tears in her eyes. It is not so easily that a Guru openly appreciates her Shishya!

Pt. Roshan Datye and Dhanashree Natu

गुरु रोशन ताईंचे माझ्या आयुष्यात विशेष स्थान आहे. उत्तम नृत्य शिक्षणाबरोबरच तो शिष्य परिपूर्ण नर्तक म्हणून घडावा, याबद्दल त्या आग्रही असतात. त्याच्या सहवासातील प्रत्येक क्षण हा माझ्यासाठी नेहमीच प्रेरणादायी असतो. त्यांचा उत्साह, प्रत्येक गोष्टीचा सखोल अभ्यास करण्याची जिज्ञासू वृत्ती या गुणांना माझ्यामध्ये मुरविण्याचा माझा सतत प्रयत्न असतो. रोशन ताई हातचं न राखता अगदी भरभरून शिकवतात. परंपरेला तडा न जाता त्याच्या चौकटीत राहून सृजनात्मक विचारांना बहरू द्यायचे स्वातंत्र्य देखील त्या देतात. 

नर्तनकला ही मनोरंजनाबरोबरच सामाजिक प्रबोधनाचेही कार्य करते, त्यामुळे नर्तकाने आपल्या नृत्य-प्रस्तुतीमधून मनोरंजनाबरोबरच सामाजिक संदेश दिला पाहिजे, याचे भान ठेवायलाही आम्हाला शिकवले, अशा शिस्तप्रिय गुरूची शिष्या असण्याचा मला अभिमान वाटतो व हाच वारसा पुढच्या पिढीला मी देऊ इच्छिते!

Shri. Deepak Majumdar, Smt. Anita Guha and Shri. Pavitra Bhat

  Deepak sir, a person with whom I learnt the art of creation. He not just teach me dance but also he taught 'how to create'. I got an indepth knowlede about male grace from him. I am totally mesmerized always with his study behind each concept....The best part was being a male dancer too he wanted me to learn both, Nayikas as well as Nayak Bhavas, so as in my carrier I should be able to teach the both if at all I become a teacher too. 

First thing that motivates me about Anita aunty is her magnetic smile and ever lasting love for her student of any age. Her definition of perfection can be brought forward only when you see her work- Study behind each production, selection of characters and distribution of the roles. I was fortunate to be a part of her many productions as lead and hence working with her has always made me reach to a new level of perfection as a performer, teacher and choreographer.

- Shri. Pavitra Bhat.

Mrs. Shambhavi Dandekar and Asmita Thakur

शांभवी ताई- म्हणजे उत्तम कलाकार घडविणारे एक विद्यापीठ आहे. विद्यापीठ अशा अर्थाने, ज्यात नुसतं कथकचे तंत्र शिक्षण नव्हे, तर व्यक्तीनुरूप शिष्याच्या मानसिक आर्थिक आणि सामाजिक विकासाची त्यांच्यामध्ये ताकद आहे. 

इतक्या वर्षांत 'विचार करण्याची योग्य दिशा' हे तत्व त्यांनी आम्हा सर्वांमध्ये रुजविले. रियाजच्या वेळी शब्दांपेक्षा मन आणि बुद्धी ताळ्यावर ठेवून जाणिवांच्या भाषेत संवाद साधायला त्यांना जास्त रुचते. 

एक आदर्श नृत्यांगना, नृत्यसंरचनाकार आणि गुरु म्हणून शांभवीताई ओळखली जाते. नाजूक, सुंदर शरीरयष्टीबरोबरच ताई एक भक्कम मनाची, संयमित ठोस विचारांचे व्यक्तिमत्व आहे, म्हणूनच हे शक्य आहे!

गुरूच्या सहवासाची आस आयुष्यभर शिष्य म्हणून माझ्या मनाला असणारच! पण ताई आज प्रत्यक्ष इथे नसल्या तरी त्यांच्या विचारांनी व त्यांनी दिलेल्या मूल्यांनी आज माझं संपूर्ण आयुष्य व्यापून टाकलंय, अशा ह्या परिसस्पर्शी गुरूंचा सहवास अधिकाधिक विद्यार्थिनींना लाभावा, हीच इच्छा!

Mrs. Swati Datar, Shri. Vaibhav Arekar and Swarada Datar-Bhave

They say, "You should be really blessed to have a perfect teacher in your life" and i must say that I am the lucky one.. God has showered his blessings on me in the form of my Mother Smt. Swati Datar, Smt. Mythili Raghavan and Shri. Vaibhav Arekar. 

I started liking and then learning dance because of my mother. She built the foundation so strong and has always guided and inspired me in every step of my life. 

Later, I began with my mother, my journey with Guru Mythili Raghavan. It was her who took me to the world of Kalakshetra. I got learn pure Nritta and Abhinaya technique of Kalakshetra and then I must say, golden years of my Bharatanatyam career, when I started learning from Shri. Vaibhav Arekar. Advanced performance technique of dance, pure theatrical abhinaya and how to 'watch' a dance performance and analyse and apply it in our life too, these were the aspects I gained from Vaibhav sir which shaped my life and my dance. 

- Swarada Datar-Bhave.

Shri. Parimal Phadke and Prajakta Mali

११ वीत असताना श्री. परिमल सरांना 'नृत्यसंगम' ह्या कार्यक्रमात नृत्य करताना पहिले आणि असे नर्तन आपल्याला करता यायला हवे , अशी भावना निर्माण होऊन त्यांच्याकडे शिकायला सुरवात केली. 

'कलाक्षेत्र; नृत्यशैलीची वैशिष्ट्य- शुद्ध, काटेकोर नर्तन व 'पंदनल्लूर' शैलीचे वैशिष्य- सहज वावर, नैसर्गिक अभिनय; ह्या दोन्ही शैलींचा उत्तम समतोल मला त्यांच्या नर्तनात आढळतो आणि आवडतो.

ते परंपरेच्या नावाखाली अंधश्रद्धाळूपणे डोळे झाकून कुठलीही रचना करत नाहीत, त्याचा सखोल अभ्यास, त्यामागचा विचार त्याकाळातील सामाजिक स्थिती ह्या सगळ्या गोष्टी विचारात घेऊन आत्ताच्या काळासाठी अनुरूप अशी ति रचना बनवतात.  फक्त नर्तनच नाही तर त्यासाठी उपयुक्त इतर कलांच्या अभ्यासावर ते भर देतात. जसे कि- कर्नाटक संगीत, तमिळ-तेलगु भाषा शिकणे, ग्रंथवाचन, शिल्प-चित्रांचा अभ्यास करणे इत्यादी. मला ते आम्हा विद्यार्थ्यांसाठी उर्जेचा स्रोत वाटतात. ते मूर्तिमंत चैतन्य आहेत.

- प्राजक्ता माळी.

Dr. Swati Daithankar and Nupur Daithankar

मी स्वतःला खूप भाग्यवान समजते कि मला आईमध्येच माझा गुरु लाभला. आईने मला नृत्याचे स्वतंत्र धडे न देता नृत्यवर्गामध्ये येऊन नृत्य शिकण्यास सांगितले, तर वेळप्रसंगी तिच्या इतर विद्यार्थिनींपेक्षा जास्त कडक माझ्याशी वागली त्यामुळे अतिशय शिस्तबद्ध रीतीने माझे नृत्याचे शिक्षण सुरु झाले.तिने सर्व निर्णयांचे स्वातंत्र्य दिले ज्यामुळे माझ्या व्यक्तिमत्व विकासाला मदत झाली. मग  ते दूरदर्शनवरील निवेदन असो वा मालिकेमधील अभिनय, प्रत्येक वेळी तिने मला प्रोत्साहनच दिले, त्यामुळेच मी नृत्याबरोबरच स्वतःला अभिनय क्षेत्रात आजमावून पहिले. 

आईने मला स्वतंत्रपणे नृत्य शिकविण्याची आणि संरचना करण्याची संधि दिली ज्यामुळे माझा आत्मविश्वास बळकट झाला. तिची मेहनत घेण्याची वृत्ती, समर्पण भाव, गुरुंवरील प्रामाणिक निष्ठा ह्या सर्व गोष्टी मला खूप भावतात. मी जे काही थोडंफार नृत्यक्षेत्रामध्ये करू शकतेय ते केवळ माझी नृत्यगुरु, माझ्या आईमुळेच! माझ्या पुढील वाटचालींसाठी तिचे प्रोत्साहन नक्कीच मार्गदर्शक ठरेल ह्यात शंका नाही.

- नुपूर दैठणकर.

श्री. सुरेश सामंत आणि अमोल माळी 

पं. सुरेश सामंत हे बनारस, लखनौ, फरुखाबाद, पंजाब, दिल्ली घराण्याचा तबला शिकवतात. त्यांच्या शिकवण्यातील सर्वात आदर्श भाग म्हणजे 'मी सांगतो म्हणून हे अमुकामुक आहे' अशी भाषा त्यांच्या तोंडी कधीच नसते. सोप्या भाषेत अवघड गोष्ट समजावणे हा त्यांच्या शिकविण्याचा एक विशेष होता.  

गुरुजींचे वय ६९ वर्षे आणि आजही दिवसातले १०-१२ तास ते विद्यार्थी घडविण्यात मेहनत घेतात. तिचं जिद्द, तोच उत्साह दिसतो. आपले वडील आणि गुरु असणाऱ्या पं. जी.एल सामंत यांचे विद्यादानाचे कार्य अखंडपणे चालू ठेवले आहे. शिष्याने गुरुबद्दल करू तेवढं आणि बोलू तेवढं कमी आहे, पण शिष्य गुरूच्या पावलावर पाउल ठेवून हे विद्यादानाचे कार्य पुढे चालू ठेवून मोठे करणे हीच गुरुपौर्णिमेची गुरु दक्षिणा ठरेल!
